With Euro 2016 fast approaching, Supporters Summit has compiled the following list of tips to help ensure fans have a safe and enjoyable tournament. Please read and circulate to your groups as appropriate.

Security

After the events in Paris last year, France will understandably be on heightened security alert for the duration of Euro 2016. This means fans should allow extra time when planning their itineraries, and expect extra security to be in place at Fan Zones and in and around stadia. Fans should also be extra vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activity to the authorities as soon as possible. Stay alert, and stay safe.

Tickets

Fans wishing to purchase tickets are advised to do so only via the official Euro 2016 ticket portal. This is the only way to be guaranteed that the ticket you are purchasing is official. Beware online ticket fraud! Any tickets purchased through social media sites run a vastly increased risk of being rip offs. Please be vigilant and only send your money to sellers via the official channels.

Betting

At Supporters Summit we recongise that betting on football is an important part of many fans’ enjoyment of the tournament. Fans are encouraged to bet responsibly and not to let the heart rule the head. Check the latest Euro 2016 bookmaker promotions and take advantage of enhanced odds or other special offers when betting. Only choose well known and reputable bookmakers to place your bet.

Travel

Book travel early and be aware of increased demand. The Independent travel guide for Euro 2016 gives some important advice regarding travel for fans. There is also the option of the official UEFA fans app which you can download for free. This provides up to date travel information in real time. Remember to allow extra time to complete your journey to allow for congestion and security procedures.

The inaugural Supporters Summit Conference took place on 26th July 2014 at Wembley Stadium and was full to capacity with over 400 attendees. Representatives from all of the major clubs were to be found at the Conference with Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea fan groups all in attendance. 

As well as the Premier League, Championship and Leagues One and Two some 23 supporters organisations from the Scottish Leagues including Hearts and Hibernian also took part in the discussions and networking events.

Current State Of The Game From Supporters Perspective / Update On The Away Fans Matter Campaign / Protecting Football Club Identities / The Role of Supporters Liaison Officers / Licensing Systems Developments - Focus On National Conference / Getting Fans Voices Heard in National Media / Impact Of The Financial Fair Play Regulations / Gambling On Football - has it gone too far?

Officials from 72 Clubs attended the Conference as well as over 100 journalists and the Event was well reported across many of the national daily newspapers and extensively in football blogs and websites online. 

Representatives from over 20 online betting sites and bookmakers were also at the Conference and shared their insight into various marketing strategies that could help to improve the financial position of clubs in the lower leagues. 

It is anticipated that the Supporters Summit Conference will become an annual event and we hope to be able to keep bringing you full information on progress in the coming months.
